Hold On! What does ‘Natural’ mean anyway?

A natural moisturizer means that the product may contain only unprocessed, natural and organic ingredients. It also means that it may contain processed ingredients that are sourced from natural products. Plus, in most cases, natural means the absence of chemicals from the product.

Natural does not always mean better, as your skin may be allergic to some natural ingredients as well. So, before you apply natural and homemade moisturizers to the face, consider applying them first to some test area and assess if the product suits you.

Okay! So how to decide upon which moisturizer to use?

The decision to choose your moisturizer shall be based on your skin type foremost. If you have oily skin, go for a light gel-based, less greasy moisturizer. Choose a lightweight moisturizer like a hydrating serum or lotion instead of cream. This is true for people with acne-prone skin. If you have dry skin, make sure your moisturizer is heavy base cream. If you have sensitive skin, choose moisturizers free of fragrances, chemicals, alcohol, and preservatives. If you have combination skin, choose moisturizers made specifically for combination skin types like oil-free lotions, gels and serums.

Always remember, choose a natural moisturizer for best results as it may not cause damage to your skin. Choose the best natural and homemade moisturizers for face by deciding if it is the right for your skin. For Example, you may have an oily face but dry hands and feet. So, choose your moisturizer accordingly.

Do you know your moisturizer type?

Ointments: Ointments contain mostly oil, and hence they seal the moisture in the skin. These are perfect for extremely dry skin types.

Creams: They contain more water than oil components. These also lock moisture in your skin perfectly and are less greasy than ointments.

Lotions: They contain more water than oil and may be well suited to dry skins, sensitive skins and acne-prone skin types. They evaporate easily and are not sticky.
