Dr. Roli Misra is a Columnist, Economist and Academic at The Easy Wisdom. She is Professor and Head of the Department of Economics at the University of Lucknow and also serves as the Honorary Librarian of Tagore Library. With more than 25 years of teaching experience, her academic career spans teaching, research, writing and social development.
She completed her M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Lucknow and was a batch topper in Economics. Her areas of specialization include gender studies, migration and agricultural economics.
An accomplished researcher and author, Dr. Misra has published extensively on gender, migration, demography, agriculture and development economics. She has authored four books, including Migration, Trafficking and Gender Construction: Women in Transition, and has undertaken research projects supported by institutions including the University Grants Commission (UGC), Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) and National Commission for Women.
Her academic contributions have received several recognitions, including the Dr. K. Srinivasan Award from the Indian Association for Population Studies for the best technical paper, the Femina Spark Mission Shakti Award for her work on gender, and the Smarika Swayam Siddha Samman.
Beyond academic research, Dr. Misra has explored social issues through documentary filmmaking, addressing subjects such as migration, child labour, waste workers, traditional crafts and identity.
She also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Family Therapy (PGDCFT), adding another dimension to her understanding of individuals, families, relationships and human experiences.
At The Easy Wisdom, Dr. Misra draws from her academic expertise, research, understanding of family dynamics and personal experiences to write about economics, gender, society, relationships, family, personal growth and social development. Her writing brings together research-led perspectives with observations, stories and lessons from everyday life.
